Honestly, an hour after I got here on my first day we had an earth quake. I think something must have shifted in me after that.
I'm so... unused to not being in class most of the day. But I've just been looking at my grades, and apparently I've done alright thus far. I've got a 3.2, which is better than a lot of the campus.
But what have I learned?
I learned not to let your advisor call the shots on your classes, especially when she mixes up social psychology and natural psychology.
I learned to pace myself with art classes and to not get frustrated when I'm not as naturally good as the Asian chicks sitting next to me.
I learned that most business classes teach the same exact material, no matter what their subject matter is. Marketing and management classes aren't that different. But you still have to buy more text books.
I learned that I need to just accept the fact that a lot of my peers aren't going to care as much about reading and writing as I do.
I learned that I really like marketing, and that apparently I have a natural talent for it.
I learned that I really need to work on my procrastination problems. Pulling all-nighters on 5-page papers is not the best idea, since I wind up sick for a week afterward.
I learned that all my problems can be solved with pizza and/or ceramic clay.
I learned that going to an all-women's college means that everyone, including your teachers, will assume that you're a feminist.
I learned that the feeling of paying for something after spending the effort of saving money to buy that something is a really satisfactory thing to do.
And I learned a lot of other, more technical things, but the details aren't important at the moment.
And so my school year ends next Wednesday when I drive home. And my job at Wal Mart starts on Thursday. Hoorah, Shelly will finally be making some money!
And what's really funny is that, when I calculated the hours and the pay they offered me, I found out that I'll be making more than my step-mother with my first paying job. Gave me a good laugh.
Anyway, that's just what's on my mind at the moment... huzzah. ^^
